Shelton Family Eye Care was founded with a simple belief: every person in our community deserves eye care that treats them like family. Dr. La is an independent doctor of optometry practicing inside the Shelton Walmart Vision Center — serving Mason County and the surrounding Olympic Peninsula region.
We take pride in offering personalized, unhurried care. When you visit us, Dr. La and our team take the time to truly listen, explain your options clearly, and make sure you leave feeling confident about your eye health.
Dr. La can also conduct most of an exam in Spanish — not perfectly, but well enough that Spanish-speaking patients leave feeling heard and understood, which isn’t always easy to find in Mason County. Se habla español.
Meet the doctor
Dr. Steven La, O.D.
Doctor of Optometry · Founder · Shelton Family Eye Care, PLLC
Dr. Steven La earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Washington — a proud Husky. He then pursued his passion for eye care at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, one of the nation’s leading optometry schools, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. La expanded his clinical expertise through residency training at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where he developed deep experience in ocular disease and veteran patient care, and at the Milauskas Eye Institute in Palm Springs, a renowned center for surgical co-management and advanced eye care.
Back home in Washington, Dr. La founded Shelton Family Eye Care in 2012 because he wanted to bring high-quality, personal eye care to the community he loves. Over a decade later, the practice has earned a perfect 5-star rating from patients across Mason County and the Olympic Peninsula. Dr. La sees patients of all ages and is also able to see Spanish-speaking patients in their preferred language for most exams.
Outside the office, Dr. La is an avid snowboarder who takes full advantage of the Pacific Northwest’s incredible mountains. He also trains in kickboxing and, above all, cherishes time with his family.
