Serving Mason County, Olympia & the Olympic Peninsula

Independent optometry rooted in Shelton — welcoming patients from Olympia, the South Sound, Grays Harbor, Kitsap County, and communities across the peninsula.

Shelton Family Eye Care has been part of Mason County since 2012. Over the years we’ve built a practice patients drive to — from Olympia in the south, Bremerton in the east, and Aberdeen and Ocean Shores to the west. Below are the communities we most often see, with approximate drive times up-to-date as of this year.

Olympia, Lacey & Tumwater

A straightforward 20–25 minute drive north on Highway 101. For many Olympia-area patients, we’re actually closer than driving across town during afternoon traffic — and appointments here tend to run on time.

We hear the same things from Olympia patients: their previous optometrist was booked out for months, or the appointment felt rushed, or the office atmosphere didn’t feel personal. We take time. Dr. La sits with each patient. And parking is free and easy in the Walmart lot — no downtown meters, no parking garages.

Most major medical and vision plans accepted, including Apple Health, Medicare, VSP, Regence, Premera, and Kaiser.

Mason County communities

Most of our patients live within 30 minutes of the office. We’ve been part of the community since 2012 and have watched three generations of some families pass through our doors.

Aberdeen, Hoquiam & the coast

Grays Harbor County has been dealing with a real optometrist shortage for years. Local practices are booked months out, and specialty care is even harder to come by. We hear the same story from Aberdeen and Hoquiam patients: they called around, couldn’t get an appointment for six months, and figured out that driving to Shelton was actually the faster option.

So we see Grays Harbor patients for everything — annual comprehensive exams, contact lens fittings, kids’ exams, and the medical eye care that’s hardest to find on the coast: glaucoma monitoring, diabetic exams, dry eye treatment, and urgent visits when something isn’t right.

The drive from Aberdeen is about 50–55 minutes on Highway 12 — a straight shot with no traffic to speak of. Most major medical and vision plans accepted, including Apple Health, Medicare, VSP, Regence, and Kaiser.
