I’m driving from Olympia. How far is it, and is it worth the trip?+
About 20–25 minutes up Highway 101 from Olympia, Lacey, or Tumwater — often faster than driving across town during Olympia’s afternoon traffic. We see patients from the Olympia area regularly, and many tell us the drive is easier than they expected. Parking is free and easy in the Walmart lot, and appointments here tend to run on time.
I’m coming from Aberdeen or Hoquiam. Is the drive worth it?+
Yes — and we hear this from Grays Harbor patients all the time. About 50–55 minutes on Highway 12, a straight shot with no traffic to speak of. Optometry access in Grays Harbor County has been tight for years, and many patients have found that driving to Shelton is actually faster than waiting six months for a local appointment. We see Aberdeen and Hoquiam patients for everything — annual exams, contact lenses, kids’ visits, and medical eye care.
Are you accepting new patients?+
Yes — we’re accepting new patients of all ages, from age 5 through seniors. Walk-ins are welcome, though appointments are preferred so we can give you unhurried time. You can book online through our scheduler or call the office at (360) 427-8324.
What insurance do you accept?+
Most major vision and medical plans, including VSP, Spectera, Regence, Premera, Kaiser, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, Apple Health / Medicaid, Molina, Wellcare, Coordinated Care, and Tricare. If you don’t see yours listed, call us — we can check.
Where exactly is the office?+
Inside the Shelton Walmart Vision Center at 100 E Wallace Kneeland Blvd, Shelton, WA 98584. We’re an independent optometry practice operating inside the Vision Center — Dr. La provides the exam and writes your prescription, and Walmart’s optical sells and dispenses eyewear.
What are your office hours?+
Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed Sunday and Monday. Emergency eye care is available during office hours — call ahead and we’ll fit you in.
